The Master Classes

(a series of lecture/demonstrations on various aspects of directing)

One of the most efficient and succinct means of teaching new skills is through The Master Class. In these intensive one or two day workshops, Mark Travis introduces the students to a variety of directing techniques within a specific area and demonstrates their execution and application. This is not a hands-on workshop but rather a forum for exploration, discussion, demonstration and analysis giving the students a wider knowledge and appreciation of the tools of directing.

Available Master Classes include:

  • The Rehearsal Process
  • Staging
  • The Director and the Camera
  • The Casting Process
  • Working with Non-actors
  • Scenes of Intimacy (Love scenes)
  • Scenes of Action and Fight scenes
  • Directing Comedy
  • Directing Children
  • The Actors Boot Camp (preparing the professional actor for auditions, rehearsals and performance in film and television)
  • The Solo Process (the creation of auto-biographical solo material)

Number of students: As many as you like (usually 50-60)

Number of days: Each Master Class is usually one 8 hour day but can be expanded to two or three days if the client wishes more detailed exploration and demonstration. (Note: Any one of the above areas of exploration can become a hands-on Workshop. )
